This program will bring together a panel of senior HR executives who are leading the charge in their organization toward creating an engaged and developed workforce.

Each panelist will talk about their company’s initiative and the effectiveness executive coaching has had in their organizations. They will focus on what worked, what did not work and what executive coaches can do to meet the demand of a company that is seeking to support their employees through executive coaching.

About the Speakers

Mary Frances (Fran) Gargotta, brings 25 years of experience to her position as Senior Vice President and Corporate Human Resources Director, primarily in the areas of change management, strategic planning, leadership development, strategic human resources, industrial relations and organizational design and development. She has responsibility for overseeing the human resources function for all MARC operating units.

Since joining MARC in 1996, she has built a strong HR team. Fran’s far-reaching experience and education in human resources and change management has provided her with a broad understanding of leadership issues. She understands that people are the most precious resource at MARC and is deeply committed to helping every employee grow professionally and personally. She is also committed to implementing programs to ensure that MARC is an Employer of Choice.

She earned her master’s degree with highest distinction from the prestigious Heinz School of Public Policy and Management, where she teaches as part of the Adjunct Faculty occasionally. She is also a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and Leadership Pittsburgh. Ms. Gargotta was a recipient of the Pittsburgh Business Times’ 2009 Human Resource Leadership Awards.


Charlene Petrelli became director of corporate human resources of EQT in October 2000. She was promoted to vice president of human resources in January 2003 and, later that year, was named president of the EQT Foundation. In February 2007 she was promoted to vice president and chief human resources officer. Her current responsibilities include developing and executing the human capital and talent management strategies for EQT’s 1,800 employees, and directing more than $3 million in annual giving through the EQT Foundation.

A Pittsburgh native, Ms. Petrelli holds a master of business administration degree from Temple University and a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Duquesne University. She is a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and a graduate of the Strategic Human Resource Management Program at Harvard Business School. Ms. Petrelli was a recipient of the Pittsburgh Business Times’ 2009 Human Resource Leadership Awards, Duquesne University’s 2007 Business School Alumni of the Year, and the CCAC Educational Foundation’s 2010 Outstanding Alumna Award.


Michal Nachmany is a human resource professional with broad experience in leading and initiating local and global strategic processes for multi-national companies. She is an accomplished facilitator with a unique blend of experience as an organizational manager, human resources manager and therapist. In over 10 years of experience in the HR arena, Michal has gained experience in consulting, establishing and leading a variety of HR processes and procedures, mostly for high-tech and telecommunication companies.

In the past 5 years, she functioned as a Human Resource Executive Director in an international telecommunications company, active in over 40 countries throughout the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia. The position included leading the establishment of the global HR organization in the company (which was close to nonexistent), and initiating HR infrastructure for the different HR fields in over 40 countries, throughout 12 HR functions under her direct professional management. Her position included participating as a senior member of the company cabinet, leading company processes globally.

Michal holds a Bachelor degree in Criminology, Psychology and Informal Education from Bar- Ilan University in Israel, and a Master's degree in Art Therapy and Psychology from European Graduate School in Switzerland. She is also a graduate of Duquesne University’ professional coaching program and currently pursuing ACC certification from the ICF.


Peter Joseph is the HR/Organizational Development Manager at The Washington Post. He has more than 16 years of experience in the field of adult learning and development.

Peter began his career as a domestic and international flight attendant and quickly advanced into expanded roles as a flight attendant training specialist, corporate learning specialist, instructional designer, organizational development consultant, and corporate manager.

His career has spanned a variety of industries including telecommunications, aviation, retail, print media and digital media. Peter holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication and a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Management.
