The Pittsburgh Coaches Association is very proud to welcome Ed Modell, JD, PCC, President of the International Coach Federation (ICF). Come and join us to gain greater insights into the coaching profession, trends in coaching and a global perspective, in addition to a discussion on the value of coaching in today's changing world. The International Coach Federation core purpose is to advance the art, science and practice of professional coaching. About Ed Modell
Ed Modell, JD, PCC, is the 2011 President of ICF and is a certified Executive and Life Coach specializing in working with government, small business and non-profit executives and professional service providers. He is a Past President of the Metro DC Chapter of ICF and a graduate of the Coaches Training Institute's certification program. Ed was Chair of the ICF Global Regulatory Committee for two years and was a co-founder of the Conflict Coaching SIG.
Ed also serves as the Ombudsman for the State of Maryland Judiciary. In that capacity, he provides confidential and informal conflict coaching, mediation and facilitation services for workplace problems and citizen concerns with the courts. Ed initiated this program in 2006 and he reports directly to the Chief Judge of Maryland.
Before becoming a coach in 2003, Ed practiced law for over 28 years at several major law firms in Washington, DC. Most recently, Ed was a Partner, then Of Counsel at Dickstein Shapiro LLP, specializing in civil litigation of large, complex cases.
Ed is also a professional mediator and helped to found the Conflict Resolution Center of Montgomery County, Maryland, a private, non-profit community mediation center that provides mediation and meeting facilitation services to county residents. He earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and his B.A. from Yale University, and served as an officer in the United States Air Force.

Make the most of your membership in the Pittsburgh Coaches Association. At our learn how to 'Make the PCA Work for You" before the Lunch and Learn session on June 8th, we'll discuss the many benefits of joining PCA, including how to participate in and facilitate teleclasses, using and taking advantage of the PCA website and be included in the site's "Find a Coach" section, and how to display the PCA logo and link on your own website, and how to get involved in our mission of serving as advocates of Pittsburgh Coaches and the coaching profession. The session will be from 10 - 11 a.m .at the Highland Golf Club and will be followed by our Lunch and Learn session featuring Ed Modell, President of the International Coach Federation.

DUQUESNE'S NEW LEADERSHIP BREAKFAST SERIES EXPLORES LEADING MINDFULLY

Do you coach and lead mindfully, paying attention, consciously and non-judgmentally, to the present moment? In your role, do you foster work that is Excellent, Ethical, Engaging and Empathetic? The Pittsburgh Coaches Association is proud to announce another program as part of our on-going collaboration with Duquesne University's Professional Coaching Certification Program (PCCP). Monthly on Tuesday mornings from June through December, Duquesne University's School of Leadership and Professional Advancement will host a new Leadership Breakfast Series that explores topics of "Looking at Leadership from a Mindful Perspective." Dr. Michael Forlenza, Assistant Dean in the School of Leadership and Professional Advancement, will facilitate the discussions. He is an executive leadership coach and Duquesne PCCP graduate, with a practice that focuses on leading mindfully, and recently completed a residential training on Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction in Mind Body Medicine.
The first session "Leading Mindfully" will be held on June 7 and investigates the application of mindfulness to important tasks of leadership. Session 2 on July 19 will discuss the GoodWork® Project and the responsibility that leaders have for fostering four elements of GoodWork - Excellence, Ethics, Engagement and Empathy. The attendees will discuss forces that compromise work and leave with suggestion on what might be done to diminish these forces. Sessions 3-6 will delve more deeply into understanding each of the four elements of GoodWork. Session 3, Excellence, is on September 6. Session 4, Ethics, is on October 4. Session 5, Engagement, is on November 8. Session 6, Empathy, is on December 6.
The sessions will be held from 7:30 - 9:30 a.m. in the Duquesne University Power Center Ballroom West. Participants may choose to attend one, several or all sessions. The cost is $45 per session or $225 for all sessions, and includes parking, a full breakfast and handout materials. Register or get more information on line or by phone at 412-396-5600.
